Good spirit city

Every occupation and town whe e you live in has its own temperament. Ryogoku is named after two countries, extending, Okawa (Sumida River) as border upon such two countries. The Nihonbashi side is called “Musashi country” and the opposite bank is called“Shimoosa country”. Now a days, name “Ryogoku” is left at Shimoosa side. The river breeze blowing from this Okawa is really pleasant. In Edo, since ancient times the west wind is strong and the wind blows through Okawa from the Nihonbashi side, basically the wind of Okawa will blow on Ryogoku sides.

It used to be said that “Stylish Fukagawa  Dashing Kanda  Nasty people in Kojimachi” From the point of view of the Edo townspeople, they would have said that as Fukagawa for chic Geisha Girls, Kanda for dashing young men’s, Kojimachi for Samurai who are not a bad officers but doing nothing. The towns between this stylish Fukagawa and the dashing Kanda is Ryogoku. So, how Ryogoku was called between Stylish and Dashing ?

Ryogoku・Sumida has been a town of craftsmen since the Edo period, so it’s true when it comes to quality of work, but Ryogoku is not just a town of craftsmen, but they are grown between the stylish and the dashing, so they don’t refuse the work if asked and useful, work without gain or loss, even if it takes time and effort, but if they get a job they will get it done well, and if give up on them, they will go away like a river breeze, saying, “Yes we can” When they finish, take a drink with small money and go home. After all, RYogoku is city that feel the wind.

I think like this. Originally, it is KIFU(spirit or character) but Ryogoku is still, we should say as KIPPU(spirit or character). IKIJI, who has born and inherited with such a nice city DNA, is refreshing like the wind from Okawa, and will take over this wonderful DNA to the next generation.
